An Austrian who settled in Kalmykia created a hotel in yurts with European service
A very unusual resident appeared in the steppes of Kalmykia, who not only fell in love with the expanse and freedom of the steppe region, but is trying to create a unique tourist settlement-a luxury hoton. This young ambitious foreigner in his project tries to combine the national flavor of nomadic life and technological achievements of the XXI century, so instead of the usual rooms, travelers will be met by comfortable yurts.
Clemens Auer-a young programmer from Austria in his quest for self-realization got all the way to the steppes of Kalmykia! And it all started with the fact that he could not find a decent job in his city and after an interview got to Russia. Despite all the difficulties with the language and changing his place of residence, the young man was so passionate about the country that even after the end of the contract, he eventually returned and continued working in Russia.
During this time, he managed to get a family and moved with his wife and two sons to her homeland – Elista, in Kalmykia. The vast expanses and good-natured people so impressed the European that he does not even plan to leave this region. Clemens has long considered himself a real steppe man, because not only has he learned to ride a horse and learned Russian, but he is also trying to launch a unique business for these regions.
After all, I didn’t have to think about what I would do here for a long time, the idea was quite definite and for good reasons. Clemens himself says this: “in Kalmykia, there is a problem when guests come here, especially foreigners, they can not always be accommodated comfortably. This situation arose when my parents came to see me. So I decided to create a special place, something like a hotel and camp site. I wanted to take the best of what nomads have created over many millennia and combine the heritage of the steppe people with the achievements of the XXI century.”
An active young man together with his wife Yulia developed a rather unique project of the ethnographic tourist complex “Teegin ger”, with which they managed to win a Republican grant of 700 thousand rubles! Naturally, this is a drop in the sea of investments that the family has already spent on creating a tourist settlement-hotona with guest yurts, decoration and comfort. Such life-affirming stories have been covered on the pages more than once Novate.ru and today’s material is no exception.
In this unprecedented complex for the region, the Austrian placed four huge yurts on 80 square meters, which act as a hotel double room. Naturally, this structure only looks like a national dwelling of nomadic people, it can not be disassembled and installed in a new camp. And the comfort that he is trying to create can be the envy of even luxury hotels. After all, each Yurt is equipped with toilets and bathrooms, which are located in the back of such a colorful building. To create a special comfort and microclimate, the walls are insulated with special thermal insulation materials, and a comfortable temperature inside will be maintained with Underfloor heating.
The main highlight of the Yurt-room will be a glass dome located in the center, which will replace the traditional smoke hole from the hearth. After all, no one will heat the building in the old way, and an impromptu exit will allow you to admire the starry sky without getting out of bed. Naturally, having such an area in each room, you will be able to install a huge double bed, and a cozy sofa in the living room, and all sorts of lockers and chairs to create a home comfort.
In order to provide the hotel complex with electricity and all the resulting benefits, a small house in the style of Kalmyk architecture was created, on the roof of which solar panels are installed, and an administrative building will be located inside. They also plan to make several more budget yurts, which will be able to provide a comfortable stay for more people.
Since Clemens Auer approaches everything rationally and thoroughly, he has very unexpected problems. As it turned out, it is not so easy to find real specialists in construction and communications, the bulk of contractors request fabulous money, while frankly “hack”, which is absolutely not satisfied with the European. He puts the quality of the work performed at the forefront, so the construction process is delayed, because he has to control each stage of the work himself, so that everything is at the highest level.
The young man does not despair and explains with calm reasonableness: “I just believe that you need to live correctly and do your job well. One day I’ll finish my job. I’ll do fine. Even if it’s not as fast as I’d like. But I’m not worried or upset about it anymore. What for? This won’t solve your problems any faster.”
And another important detail: Clemens creates his original complex near a landmark place for Buddhists – the ancient Buddhist temple of hurula. Despite the fact that he was born in a Christian family: his mother is a Protestant, and his father is a Catholic (and his wife is a Buddhist!), the young man himself admits that he feels an incredible power coming from hurul. Therefore, he often goes there and likes not only to spin the prayer drums, but also to communicate with the monks.
Many friends and acquaintances both in Europe and Russia are very surprised by his decision and constantly ask why he needs it. But he does not even think that he can ever leave here and says with a dreamy smile: “I like it here too much. I am already thoroughly imbued with nomadic culture. I often go riding on a horse in the steppe. In the steppe, I have how to say it… The soul is being cleaned-here! When I finish Haughton, I’ll breed horses like a real nomad.” Let’s hope that the realities of our life will not discourage the desire of a foreigner who grew up in completely different conditions to finish the job and realize his dream.
